Mobility India to tie up with Kuwait’s Disabled Sports Club

Lucknow: Mobility India, an NGO working for disabled persons announced on 19 August that it will be organizing the second international sports meet for the differently-abled persons soon in Lucknow in collaboration with the Kuwait’s Disabled Sports Club.

“A delegation of Kuwait’s Sports Club will soon be visiting India to explore opportunities of tie-up with us for organizing the international sports meet for the differently abled people,” founder secretary of Mobility India (MI), Dr A W Siddiqui informed media persons in a press release.

MI had organized the first international sports meet in collaboration with Russia in 2005, and also organized the first international cricket tournament for the disabled between India and England in 2002.

Dr Siddiqui met the vice president of Kuwait Disabled Sport’s Club during his recent visit to the Gulf country and discussed the various opportunities for the promotion of sports for the differentially abled people.

“Welcoming the move, Vice President of Kuwait Disabled Sports Club, Anwar M Al Mustawa, said a delegation of the club will be visiting India and soon be entering into a formal tie-up for organizing international sports meet,” Dr Siddiqui said.

This sports club in Kuwait situated in Hawali town promotes games like table tennis, basket ball on wheelchair, swimming, power-lifting and other sports, on wheel chair.

Ambassador of India to Kuwait, Mr. Ajay Malhotra, also met the delegation of MI led by Dr A W Siddiqui during their visit to Kuwait.

“The ambassador has highly appreciated the concept of organizing international sports meet for the disabled between the two nations, and exhorted MI delegation to take the count of its membership to 100 in Kuwait, in order to get recognition there,” MI’s Chief Coordinator International Affair M Usmaan Siddiqui said.

MI presently has a 60 member base in Kuwait and is working towards expanding its membership further.
