New Delhi : Industry leaders Sunil Bharti Mittal, Anand Mahindra and Kumar Mangalam Birla were among those honoured by television channel NDTV Profit at a glittering function here Friday evening.
The awards were given away by Finance Minister P. Chidambaram at The Grand Hotel in the presence of who's who of India's corporate world.
Speaking on the occasion, Chidambaram asked Indian business leaders to look beyond the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth and build a global business platform.
He said this could be done not only by growing organically but also by following the inorganic route and "so let us go out and buy business. We must be among the top five players in the world and within that also we must aim to be among the top."
The finance minister asked the top business leaders to take the lead in their business and look beyond the nine percent GDP growth.
The awardees in the respective categories are:
-Kingfisher: best aviation company of the year
-DLF: best real estate company of the year
-HDFC Bank: best banking company of the year
-Larsen and Toubro: best infrastructure company of the year
-Tata Motors: best four-wheeler company of the year
-Bajaj Auto: best two-wheeler company of the year
-Kumar Mangalam Birla: global Indian of the year
-Anand Mahindra: inspiring Indian of the year
-Sunil Bharti Mittal: business leader of the year
