Babri Masjid verdict likely to be delivered between September 21-23

Lucknow: With the Chief Justice FI Rebello being part of the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court, the verdict in the title suit of Ayodhya issue is likely to delivered in the middle of fourth week of September by the full bench specially consituted to hear the issue.

Though officially exact dates have not been declared, the assumption gains momentum going by the reviewing security arrangements and enforcement of other preventable measures across the state. The Lucknow Bench has already issued directives to the DGP in mid August for maintaining law and order in the state. State government has approached the central government for extra para-military forces to maintain law and order in the state.

Meanwhile highly placed sources confided that the verdict is likely to be delivered between September 21-23 in the six decade old Babri Masjid/Ram Janambhoomi case.

Earlier, the special full bench of the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court comprising Justice SU Khan, Justice Sudhir Agarwal and Justice Dhramveer Sharma had reserved its verdict in the Ramjanambhoomi-Babri Masjid title issue on July 26.

The bench had heard the counsels of both the parties besides video footage in July before reserving their verdict. The court also had stated that the judgment will be delivered any day after September 15.

To recall the arguments of both the parties in a petition titled Sunni Central Waqf Board Vs Gopal Singh Visharad had concluded on July 6. Besides this three other petitions were still pending in the High Court in which arguments were completed on July 26. The three petitions are namely Bhagwan Sri Ram Virajman and others Vs. Rajendra Singh. The second being Nirmohi Akhara Vs. Babu Priya Dutt and others and the third petition being of Gopal Singh Vishrad Vs. Zahoor Ahmed. Hearing for these three cases also concluded before the special full bench which reserved its verdict on July 26 evening.

Earlier, the litigation of the title issue in Ayodhya case is pending in the High Court since 1989. Before it a title suit was pending before the civil court in Faizabad district since 1950. Later the suit was transferred before the District Judge, Faizabad. However, after the demolition of the structure and sensing the sensititivity and importance, as per the direction of the Supreme Court the case was transferred to the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court. A special full bench was constituted to hear the Ram Janam Bhoomi-Babri Masjid case.
