NGOs demand Bihar Govt to focus minority education

Patna: While every party and candidate has pulled out all stops to woo Muslims for vote, none is caring about the community’s pathetic educational graph. Some NGOs yesterday released a revealing report and demanded state government to focus educational uplift of the community.

Only 40.7% children of the Muslim community in the state clear primary level of education while only 23.7% are able to compete middle school, says the report titled “Education and Literacy Among Muslim Children.” The report prepared by social activist Ali Imam was published by Bihar Social Watch. However, the report was jointly released by NGOs Bihar Social Watch, Hunger Free Bihar Campaign and Vada Na Tod.

Speaking on the occasion, social thinker Prafulla Kumar Sahu stressed the need to strengthen education among the minority children. Sahu and Imtiyaz Ahmed, Director of Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Public Library released the report. Imarat Sharia general secretary Maulana Anisurrahman Qasmi was also present on the occasion.
