Syed Zahoor Qasim: Man, Mission, Milestones… introduces for the first time the biography of Syed Zahoor Qasim, an eminent Indian marine scientist who has made pioneering contributions in the domain of marine science and Antarctica research. His accomplishments transcend beyond quest for individual achievements to realise larger nationalist objectives and their acknowledgement will highlight eminence of members of minority communities in a plural society simultaneously exposing the hollow canards of the fascist forces that consider minorities more a liability than an asset to the nation.

Author Meher Fatima Hussain is Assistant Professor at Dr. K.R. Narayanan Centre for Dalit and Minorities Studies in Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Her area of specialisation is Modern Indian History and Minorities Studies. She has also authored Celebrating India: Reflections on Eminent Indian Muslims 1857-2007 in 2009 which is translated into Hindi and also in Urdu by National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, an autonomous organization of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Former Governor of Bihar, West Bengal and Haryana Dr Akhlaqur Rahman Kidwai in the foreword of the book writes: “the effort is laudable for such works not only go into making biographies a subject of serious academic recognition but also translate into motivation for all who aspire to pursue righteous ambitions for some higher causes.”
