Muslim women hold rally in support of women reservation bill

New Delhi: All India Muslim Mahila Andolan today lambasted the comments of Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawwad in which he reportedly said Muslim women have no role in politics, rather they should stay at home and produce children of good race. The group staged a protest against the comments and in support of Women Reservation Bill at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. The group condemned efforts not to pass the bill in its present form, for one reason or other.
Naish Hassan, founder member of All India Muslim Mahila Andolan, said she is not against Muslim women reservation but this can be done later by amendment. There is no purpose to hold this at present stage. “We are not against quota within quota for Muslim women in the Women Reservation Bill. But this is not appropriate time to raise this question. First let this bill pass as it is, and then we will fight for quota for Muslim women. Dirty politicians who have no base are opposing this bill. They are feeling insecure with this bill,” she said.
Eminent rights activist and president of ANHAD Shabnam Hashmi condemned the Shia cleric for his controversial comments. “He says that women should produce children of good race. It means he wants only cream to be ruler of the country. Muslim women should just produce such leaders. When women were raped in Gujarat, where were these clerics? They were sitting in their comfort zone. Did they visit the women who were in their homes but raped? They want us to be in home to be safe, but were those women who were in home were safe? We are here to tell them: stop your stupid talking in the name of Muslim women,” she said addressing the gathering.
“A Muslim woman if she believes in Allah is answerable to Allah. She will decide whether she wants to offer prayer one time or five times, whether she wants to live in home or engage in social and political activities. We do not need middlemen,” she said.
Albina Shakeel, Member, Delhi Committee of All India Democratic Women Association said: “We are supporting this bill because as women in the society whether we are Muslim women or other women we all face a lot of problems. And at a juncture when something is being done for women as a class we should support it. First we are women and then comes any affiliation of community, caste or class.”
“We are not against quota within quota. But first let this bill pass. Amendments can follow.”
“We are outraged at the comments by some clerics that our place is at home. On one hand they say there should be quota for Muslim women in the bill, on the other they say we should not come out of home.
Lyricist and newly nominated Rajya Sabha Member, Jawed Akhtar came down harshly on clerics for not giving proper rights to Muslim women but not calling for quota for women and trying not to let the bill pass. “Those who are now talking about quota for Muslim women, they never talked about the atrocities on them by the way of triple talaq in one go. I ask Muslim Personal Law Board if they ever tried to stop this. They want quota for Muslim women in Parliament, have they given them any quota in their home. Muslim Personal Law in India does not accept right of Muslim women in agricultural properties. This is anti Islam and anti Quran. But have these clerics ever tried to remove this discrimination?”

Maulana Kalbe Jawad and Women
It is heartening to note that Mr SAM Nadavi has exposed the real Javed Akhtar who himself boasted of not having heard Azan but the constitution of Communist Party after he took birth. We all know that all potical parties,including Congress,look for opportunists displaying "Muslim nameplates on their foreheads" to further their political agendas through them. These people,including so-called "liberated women"look out for opportunities to please their political masters and in the process try to give their own interpretations of Islam which suit their cause.
It is laughable that semi-clad politically ambitious liberated women were speaking about the concept of hijab and women rights in Islam. Mr Javed Akhtar had to return favours showered on him by the Congress party for his nomination to Rajya Sabha by speaking in favour of Women Reservation Bill.He also chose to speak against Maulan Kalbe Jawad who beleives that women can do anything as long as they remain in Hijab.
As for these women, all are dying for any political post be it Rajya Sabha, MLC or Chairpersonship of any Board.
My only question to your reporter Mr Mumtaz Alam Falahi is" What favours have you been promised for giving so much prominence to a "Mohalla Nukkar type Dharna?"

It is sad to see a report against Maulana Kalbe jawad on you website. Mr. Mumtaz alaam falahi posted the Pictures also. These Pictures clearly shows that no muslim ladies were there but all be-hijab so called liberals females. Javed Akhtar having two wives sitting in the middle is rediculous. what he has done for muslims? does he remember, in a meeting at JNU he had said that his father did not say azaan his in ear when he was born but constitution of communist party? Now he is trying to become champion of Muslim women may be to marry third time? and with out giving talaq honey and shabana. Female activist shabnam hashmi is also sitting there whose brother safdar hashmi was creamted at nigam bodh ghat and was not burried at Muslim Qabristan. she and her family has a true secular credentials.why they bother to think about muslim women?
Alas your reporter did not read the Maulana jawad's statment and reported the matter as a one sided story.
But the Photo brought the truth of so called protest of Muslim women. Not a single muslim women is there in hijab, it appears that Javed akhatar hired these 2 dozen women for the protest from the market where you can find people to sit on dharna for 200 rupees a day.
We think no reservation should be there with out a qouta for Muslim women. We thanks to Maulana Jawad who rightly said that no women reservation bill should be passed until muslim get their share. He rightly said that muslim women like shabana aazmi and shabnam hashmi should not get entery in to Look sabha just because of thier muslim names.

Its strange to see that Twocircles is giving importance to such news. This organization is an outfit of BJP and its clear from the photos that most of the participants are not Muslims. Hope you will avoid such news which holds no importance. Such a huge report for a protest where the number of participants is less than 20 doesnt hold any relevance.

So is it ok for you if Gujrat like riots can befall on these women (god forbid) and so you may not be concerned as they are not real muslims, even though they have muslim sounding names?

Maulana Jawad's comments on women have been twisted and shown in bits and pieces so as not just to portray him but the religion of Islam as anti-women.His entire interview wan not shown by the electronic media.He said that muslim women can do anything as long as they remain in Hijab and may also join politics after taking good care of their chilren so that they become good leaders.
Mr Javed Akhtar made derogatotory remarks against Maulana Jawad who is a highly revered cleric and is respected by all sections of the muslim community. Mr Javed was trying to defend his wife who acts in fims,especially in a film named"'Fire" on lesbian relationships as proof of women empowerment.
It is also regretted that Mr Mumtaz Alam chose to write an article on a protest by pseudo-intellectuals and people bearing ""Muslim names"" who are Sarkari Musalmans and are paid to do Muslim Bashing and get rewarded with. The latest example being Javed Akhtar himself who has just been nominated for Rajya Sabha but did not report on a massive rally of purdah-clad muslim women held at Lucknow on 19th March in favour of Maulana Jawad.
