Protest not to target Amarnath yatra: Mirwaiz

Srinagar: The Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday said the protests in Kashmir had nothing to do with the Amarnath Yatra and that the amalgam wanted the pilgrimage to pass off successfully.

“Our protests are against the human rights violations and increased killing of youths in Kashmir. We are not aiming anyone,” chairman of the faction Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said.

“We want the yatra to pass off successfully,” Mirwaiz, who is under house arrest, said in a statement.

Meanwhile, reiterate its call for Pathar Masjid Chalo on July 1, and Eidgah Chalo on July 2, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) has appealed the people to make its “Quit Jammu Kashmir” campaign successful.

Masrat Alam Bhat, Hurriyat general secretary in a statement urged Kashmiri women to play their role in the ongoing freedom struggle and make it to Pather Masjid in large numbers tommorow.

Regarding the Eidgah Chalo programme on Friday, Masrat Alam said, “On this day at Eidgah, we will reaffirm the pledge to take the ongoing freedom movement and mission of Martyrs to its logical end.

This will be followed by the adaptation of resolution seconded by the people. After Friday prayers, Nimaz-i-Jinaza Gayibana (funeral prayers in absentia) of the recently martyred youth will be offered
