Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja allowed the Delhi Police Special Cell to keep Shahzad in their custody till February 25.

Public Prosecutor Rajiv Mohan asked for 10 days remand to interrogate him about laptop and two mobile phones recovered from Azamgarh. Police believe that Shahzad Ahmad is an “Indian Mujahideen” member. He is being blamed for having a hand in Delhi blasts of 2008.

Defence counsel Advocate M S Khan opposing the police plea for remand argued that investigators have already filed chargsheets in Delhi serial blasts case of 2008.

Delhi Police refuse to say whether Shahzad had any role in Pune blasts of February 13.

They claim that Shahzad along with Junaid escaped during encounter in Batla House on September 19, 2008 in which Police Inspector MC Sharma and two boys Atif Ami and Sajid were killed.
