Delhi Govt clears project for roads in Jamia Nagar

New Delhi: The Expenditure Finance Committee of Delhi Government yesterday cleared a project for widening and reconstruction of some roads in Jamia Nagar area that falls in East Delhi. The Committee cleared four projects worth Rs.60.50 crore to create infrastructure in areas that fall around the Commonwealth Games venues.

The Committee has sanctioned Rs.7.52 crore for re-surfacing of Vikas Marg, improvement of drains, central verge and re-surfacing of the main carriageway. As the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium will host the opening and closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, two foot over-bridges (FOBs) will be constructed at the cost of Rs 12.57 crore near the stadium to facilitate movement of pedestrians around the venue.

The Committee has sanctioned Rs.17.95 crore for improvement of six roads that include some in Jamia Nagar close to the UP border. The work will include upgrading and repairing of road from Ghaffar Manzil to Tikona Park, widening of the road from Kalindi Kunj to the gate of the UP Irrigation Colony and re-construction of Jasola Road from the Jamia Nagar police station to the Shaheen Bagh police post. Besides, under this project a stormwater drain will be constructed at Kondli village in Gharoli parallel to Hindon Cut Canal and three bridges parallel to Hindon Cut Canal at Dallupura, Mulla Colony and Rajiv Colony.

The Delhi Government has also sanctioned Rs.22.42 crore for construction of a diabetic, endocrine and metabolic care centre at GTB Hospital, Shahdara.
