Nationwide peace campaign to counter Babri verdict fallout

By Md. Ali, TwoCircles.net,

New Delhi: A nationwide peace campaign will be organized by the National Alliance of People’s Movement (NAPM) in collaboration with various other organizations on the evening of 16th September. It is essentially to counter the plans of communal mobilization by the saffron and many fringe radical Muslim groups, after Allahabad High Court verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit on September 17, 2010.

Faisal Khan of NAPM told TwoCircles.net that, “We have planned to organize peace sabha between 5-6 PM, on 16th September, where people from all religions will come together and appeal their fellow brothers to maintain peace and communal harmony after the verdict on Babri Masjid is delivered by the Court.”

“We will also appeal to the people of the country to accept the verdict, whatever it may be; because there is one thing which is more important than either Mosque or Temple and that is Humanity,” he added.

People will also read Aman Paigham, poems and messages to highlight the secular fabric of India, added Mr. Khan who has held various public meetings to mobilize support of the masses on the issue Jai Bharat Foundation, Ayodhya Ki Awaaz, Asha Pariwar, Sadbhav Mission, Journalist Union for Civil Society, Yuva Koshish, Haidari Foundation, Youth Movement of India and several other organizations have come together along with NAPM to organize Aman Sabha across the country on the eve of the Court verdict.

There have been widespread reports of communal mobilization by the Saffron brigade ahead of the court verdict. They have warned that that a nationwide communal mobilization of the Hindus will be launched if the court verdict is not in their favor.

“My several friends in the BJP ruled states are getting SMSs by these organizations, asking the Hindus to get mobilized for a countrywide protest. In this context it’s the responsibility of the civil society to make sure that the secular fabric of the country remains intact,” added Mr. Khan
