Girls bag top ranks in Madrasa exams of south Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram : Girls bagged the top ranks in the Madrasa public exams conducted by the Dakshin Kerala Islam Matha Vidyabhyasa Board in the state. Girls won the top three ranks in fifth and seventh standards whereas boys had to be content with just the first two in the tenth standard exams.

Bushra of Kaniyapuram Hayathul Islam Madrasa in Thiruvananthapuram bagged the first rank in fifth standard scoring 487 out of 500 marks. Ayisha of Shariathul Islam Madrasa at Karunagappalli won the second rank and PH Asoora of Pallarimangalam Irshadiya Secondary Madrasa won the third rank. The first rank in the seventh standard went to the Pallarimangalam Irshadiya Secondary Madrasa, while the second and third ranks went to the Permbavur Darul Uloom Madrasa and the Kanhippuzha Mifthahul Uloom Madrasa, respectively.

The first rank in the tenth standard went to Shanu N Naser of Madathara Sirajul Islam Madrasa. The second rank was bagged by Abdulla of Muvattupuzha Jamia Badriyya Madrasa and the third by Farsana Saleem, student of the Hayathul Islam Madrasa in Thiruvananthapuram.

The exams were held in 2576 centres on July 24 and 25. While only 93% won in the fifth standard, the seventh standard boasted of a success percent of 95 and the tenth went a step ahead to 96%, informed KK Sulaiman Moulvi (Exam Board chairman) and Paluvalli Abdul Jabbar Moulvi (general convener). The mark lists have been reportedly sent to the conveners of 46 zones in which the exams were held. The office-bearers added that the madrasas would reopen after the Ramadan and Eid on September 19.
