Maudany was arrested by Bengaluru police Joint Commissioner Alok Kumar. Kerala police team led by Kollam SP Harshida Attalloori and IG Hemachandran accompanied the Karnataka police. All those with Maudany inside the vehicle including PDP working chairman Poothura Siraj were removed and police took him off in the same vehicle. PDP workers and other residents of Anvarssery responded to the arrest weeping and raising slogans. Reports suggest that Maudany is being taken to state capital Thiruvananthapuram.

Maudany had some time ago announced in a press conference that he would surrender in court after zuhr prayer. The police gave him a deadline to surrender by 1.15 pm. Maudany had repeated that he was innocent of the charges made against him and that he had no hope of coming back from jail.

Maudany is 31st accused in the Bengaluru blast case. He was denied bail by a Bengaluru fast track court and then by Karnataka High Court. Maudany has approached the Supreme Court for bail and the order is yet to come.
