Mumbai: To punish the Palestinians specially Gazan, who elected Hamas, Israel has violated all the International laws, said Huwaida arraf a leader of International Solidarity Movement,ISM, fighting against illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine.
Huwaida Arraf is on a week long visit to India as part of her campaign to garner supports from the governments as well as the civil societies around the world to end more than three years Gaza-blockade by the occupant Israeli forces, says Awami Bharat president Feroze Mithiborwala.
The fighting in Palestine is not between Muslims and Jews but its about Occupation verses Freedom. Palestinian Christian Huwaida Arraf is famous for traveling to Gaza through boats with relief for the civilians.
She also qouted Richard Goldstone, the former chief prosecutor for war-crime tribunals on Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia, who headed the United Nations Fact-Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict that Israel is guilty of war crimes.
“Israel has blocked Gaza from land, air and sea, and does not allow even basic supplies from tea and coffee to school and re-construction materials to reach the people”, Huwaida said while addressing the media and urged for the formation of an Indo-Palestinian Solidarity Movement to force the Israel to end its more than three years Gaza Blockade.
Gaza is 45 kilometers by 8 kilometers strip and the life for about 1.5 million Palestinians have become a hell due to Israeli blockade, Huwaida explored while addressing the media on “Crisis within Gaza”.
The only access to Gaza since the Israel began its illegal blockade is Egypt-Palestine underground tunnel that is closed most of the time reasoning the arms are being imported through this tunnel, she said. “This has left the Palestinian with no option but to die.”
“What Israel is doing since last so many years is against every international law and is contradiction of all UN resolutions. Its actions are inhuman to say the least. Yet not only the various governments in the world, but barring few people the entire civil society is a mute spectator to what is happening to poor Palestinians”, wondered Huwaida Arraf.
“People power always makes a difference. We need to break the deafening silence if we want to bring the inept Israeli Government to its knees”, she said.
Nazar Mohammed Madu, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind appreciated the courageous and daring effort of Ms. Huwaida and extended all the support and blessings from the Indians for her trip to Gaza in November, 2009. she will be carrying Construction materials along with food and medical aid to build the houses of Gazan civilians to provide them shelter before the Winter.
Senior Advocate of Suprem Court, Yousuf Muchala compared the non violent novement of freedom by ISM and Huwaida to that of Mahatma Gandhi and quoted him, “ If the Zionist will be allowed to occupy Arab Land than there will be nothing like freedom in this world.” He also expressed the grief over the deviation of Indian Foreign Policy of not supporting the oppressed Palestinians.
In New Delhi, Huwaida has scheduled meeting with 15-20 parliamentarians besides meetings with various NGOs.
