No ‘love jihad’ in Kerala, says police

Kochi: No organisation or movement in the name of ‘Love Jihad’ or ‘Romeo Jihad’ is functioning in Kerala, says the report submitted by Jacob Punnoose, Director General of Police, in the Kerala High Court yesterday. The report adds that no evidence has been found regarding the functioning of any such organisation dealing with forced conversion in the state.
The Kerala High Court had asked the state DGP on September 29 to submit a report on the occurrence of ‘compulsive religious love based conversions’ that have taken place in Kerala ‘during the last three years’. The court had also raised questions like if there was a movement called ‘Romeo Jihad’ or ‘Love Jihad’ functioning in the state. The court ordered the enquiry while considering two cases in which two MBA students from Pathanamthitta in south Kerala were allegedly forced to convert to Islam after two Muslim young men feigned love and married them.
The report, a copy of which is with the TCN, says that there was no evidence for such activities getting funds from abroad. Nor was evidence found for such activities going on in other parts of the country. No proof has been got for such activities being connected to counterfeiting, smuggling, drug trafficking and terrorist activities.
The report submitted by the DGP clearly states there is no evidence of any such organisation or such activities, but adds that there have been allegations from many corners that such activities were going on in the state for the past few years. However, the report points out that ‘there are reasons to suspect’ the existence of concerted attempts to force girls into conversion after Muslim boys win them over.
The report further reiterates that except for the two cases under consideration in the court, there have not been any cases regarding forced conversions based on love. And the police had registered complaints and were actively investigating the matter in the two cases mentioned.
The court had ordered inquiry into the matter while considering the bail applications of Shahen Shah and Sirajudheen, natives of Pathanamthitta. The two young men were accused to have feigned love and forcefully converted two MBA students to Islam. The men married the girls and were living together when the girls’ parents filed habeas corpus in the High Court. The girls had reportedly asked the court permission to go with their husbands, as they would not be able to live according to their religious faith when with parents. The court had sent them with the parents, directing the parents to provide all help for the girls to follow their religion. But when the girls were presented in the court the next time, they said that the boys had forcefully converted them to Islam.
In another development, Shahen Shah and Sirajudheen, the accused boys, have decided to withdraw their bail applications submitted at the High Court. The boys have reportedly said that the decision was taken as they were not sure of getting justice in the prevailing circumstances. They were widely hunted by the media in the love jihad controversy.

Sir,
I am a native of Trivandrum and Hindu Nair by birth, now I am the wife
of Ayoob V whose address is stated above. While I was studying for B.
Tech in Trivandrum, I happened to know and study about Islam. After
understanding more about Islam, I embraced the religion voluntarily.
My husband has been employed as head of technical department, in
International Shipping Bureau, Cochin. We have been living as husband
and wife ever since the marriage took place on May, ‘09. I have been
leading a happy and contented life along with my husband beyond all my
expectations at the above shown address at Cochin.
However, in connection with so called ‘love jihad’, hue and cry,
police personnel approached the husband’s Company referred above and
threatened the Company Authorities in the absence of my husband by
stating that he is a member of ‘love jihad’ group. They have also
scolded them by asking “why you have deputed him abroad?” The police
have also threatened the Company Authorities by stating that, if my
husband has not returned from deputation, Company will be held
responsible as if my husband has committed any grave and gruesome
crime or any act against the interest of our Nation.
Actually my husband was deputed by the above referred company for
attending a Ship at Algeria. To my knowledge, my husband was a
responsible employee of that shipping company. He was well paid and he
was drawing a salary of 37,500+ Other Allowances / month. The company
has granted advance increments considering the meritorious service of
my husband
In view of the threatening words of the police officials under your
control the Company Authorities have decided to terminate the service
of my husband and on 17/10/2009 (the same day of his return from
abroad after satisfactorily completion of the duties assigned to him
by the company) have directed my husband to offer his resignation
voluntarily or else they will terminate him from the service. They
have also directed to return the articles such as laptop, ID cards,
stamp, hologram, visiting cards etc. as soon as possible. If the
Company by fearing the threatening words of the police officials
terminates the service of my husband, we will be put to irreparable
loss and mental agony, apart from huge monitory loss not due to any
fault of my husband.
In fact there is no group like ‘Love Jihad’ as misconceived by police
officials and Honorable High Court of Kerala. It is the creation of
the media and the anti social elements so as to damage the communal
harmony existing in our State. I may draw the kind attention of your
good self that several girl students and ladies of Christian and
Muslim community have been living along with men of Hindu and
Christian communities. But nobody has raised any hue and cry like the
‘Love Jihad’ now raised.
My husband is totally innocent in this episode. After I converted to
Muslim religion my well wishers found out my husband and arranged our
marriage. He has never met me before I embraced Islam. He cannot be
blamed for my conversion to Islam religion. I have embraced Islam
after I obtained majority. My parents and relatives have neither made
any complaints before police officials nor before any court.
As I am major and an educated lady holding B. Tech degree in
Electronics and Telecommunication, I have got every right to believe
and profess any religion of my choice voluntarily. Nobody can be
penalized for my voluntary act. My husband is also not liable to be
penalized or expelled from his service for the reason that he has
chosen to marry me, protect me and maintain me as a responsible
husband. My parents are also having no grievance in this matter.
In these circumstances I request that your good self may kindly
enquire into the matter immediately and give necessary direction to
the Company Authorities not to penalize or terminate my husband from
his service for the reason that he has married me.

10 Dec 2009, The Kerala High Court found indications of ‘forceful’ religious conversions under the garb of ‘love’ in the state, and asked the government to consider enacting a law to prohibit such ‘deceptive’ acts. “Under the pretext of love, there cannot be any compulsive, deceptive conversion,” the court said. The plan was to ‘trap’ brilliant upper caste Hindu and Christian girls from well-to-do families and was started in 1996 with blessings of some Muslim organizations. During the last four years, 3,000-4,000 religious conversions to ISLAM had taken place after love affairs mainly in Kannur, Calicat, Malapuram and Kasargod dist of KERALA
Exceptions just prove the rule
The Story of SRUTHI PR is difficult to believe- an educated NAIR women, enjoying all the freedom in a MATRIARCHAL society wanting to convert to ISLAM which keeps women in BURQUA. I am sure she would have been forced to write the above application threatening her with TRIPLE TALAQ
However, one exception does NOT prove that LOVE JIHAD does NOT exist. Had the UDF been ruling KERALA the Police would have readily committed that there is no LOVE JIHAD because MUSLIM LEAGUE would have forced the police to do it. But with the LDF in power the police may - A BIG MAY- investigate the matter and come out with the truth that LOVE JIHAD is being practiced by MUSLIMS to convert more HINDUS to ISLAM.

showing of ones beauty to all people around the world does not mean freedom or liberation.The Noble Quran asks ladies to wear dress properly for their protection only.It is mentioned likethat .See if i walk with a lady who is dressed very fashionly, whom will a boy pass comment at?Assaults against ladies are very high in US( where people saythat women has feedom)but it is very less in countries where ladies wear burqa.So say which is better?

1. According to Islamic rules a girl can be married to a man only with her clear permission.even her dad have to get her permission for that
2.women are allowed to work, and she dont have any financial liabilities(where as men has to look after his wife mother and children)
3.Husband has no right to beat his wife unnecessarily. he who beats his wife is called stupid in Quran
4.A mother is given the most priority( a child has to obey his mother first)

The insistance of Anonnymous to write buqa as burqua shows he is a sold out man to the imperialists.
I fail to understand why any lady wearing burqa or being forced to do so makes these buggers fume. No Muslim army is occupying any country, neither they are threatening to bombard any country for not capitulating to their dictat. No Muslims call nuns name though they too dress strictly to a abhorrant code.
The call to avoid Islam even by conviction means there is no freedom of religion. Ganing up of criminal Hindus groups and crusading churches in Kerala and Karnataka seems to be orchestrated by some foreign agencies who sell their nefareous designs using the fear of Indian dispensation of ghettoisation, surrounded by Muslim countries or encirclement by China etc.

Dude, if there is love jihad, the person/community who might have comeup with has to be BIG NutHead. How can anyone think they can convert large number of people with such things. We hindus give birth in millions per year, and if we lose bigger Nutheads like Shruthi, there is no problem at all. We shouldn't have any problem with Shruthi like people converting, as long as they live peacefully and do not commit to Taliban like mentality or get swayed by Extremist thoughts of Wahabism. I will be even more happy if she converts to Sufi sect, which is the most peaceful. I really doubt, because almost everyone who converted has embraced the extremist view of islam. That way, the missionaries are even more wily. They are converting whole villages in the name of helping poor. An educated person like Shruthi converting is ok, so that at least we are contributing to some education in the Ummah :-)

"Love Jihad" - the name sounds more like a Bollywood movie like "Love Aajkal" or "Love ke liye kuch bhi karega".LOL!
Love Jihad should translate into "Prem Yudh" in hindi.
For a deeply spiritual person, it represents his or her love to do jihad against the inner powers of ego, lust, jealousy, greed, anger and hatred.
But anyway, newspapers need something to fill their papers, so they invent all such words.

the latest to join the tirade against Jihadis is the HC of Karnataka. Despite the girl telling that she had married willingly, the court sent her to her parents which shows the bias against the religion of the husband. In any civlised society, husband is more important than other relatives when a lady marries.
Sadly, nobody makes bones about this and the inherent apartheid allows it to go unnoticed.
What is anti-national about marrying a girl even if she converts just for marriage. Muslims do not bother much if a boy or girl marries outside except for their insistence that they are muslims. As long as they say they remain Muslim, they need to follow rule. Here, girls being the fairer sex, do convert and you find more girls converting for marriage than boys. There is no compulsion of religion of birth etc in Islam and of one wants to go out, she/he is free, so no protests. However, if to avoid misuse of this provision, presence of any coercion is looked into.

Jihad is the struggle against the baser self or the ego,and also against one's passion and wrong desire and to remain steadfast in one's commitment to lead the life by human beings in the right path and in the right direction.
According to Qur-an Jihad is the sense of striving using peaceful means, to communicate God's word to all of His slaves, inspired by a compassion and concern for others, even if this is not reciprocated.

The term ‘love jihad’, used in Kerala and coastal Karnataka to label inter-religious relationships allegedly aimed at converting women to Islam, has started doing its rounds in the courts and administrative circles of both states as well.
Indian constitution allows and legalises inter-caste and inter-religious marriages aiming at greater integration or dubious secularism. Indian mass-media’s insinuating reporting under the suggestive heading Love Jihad is mischievous and unfair to Muslim minorities. The so called Love Jihad can be equally called Love Azadi.
In the case in Kerala, both the Hindu girls appeared in the court wearing traditional Muslim Burqa. These girls would have easily told the judge that they had been undergone forced conversion. But instead they asserted that they are convinced converts.
Forced conversion worked when the Spaniards forced Christianity in 1850s on the entire Philippine population. It worked except in the case of Moro Muslims of Philippines, but it will never ever work in 21st century. Converting to American liberalism has a far greater chance of success in India.
These sort of inter-religious marriages (several thousands a year) take place both ways throughout India. There had been thousands of Muslim boys and girls who have taken Hindu spouses without any change in religion and Vice-Versa. In my small town, I have seen four such marriages.
In the glamorous cine world, this is too common( Prabu Deva Sundaram’s wife ( Latha)was a born Muslim, Abdullah S. Khan’s sister Khusboo, a top ranking South Indian actress, is married to Sunder( A Hindu), Shahrukhan’s wife Gawri Chibber is a Hindu lady, Aamir Khans wives Reena Dutt and Kiran Rao. Are they Muslims or Hindus?
Quite often Namke Vaste Love Azadis ( better term than Love Jihahis), free thinkers of some sort, marriage of conveniences.
Such couples are more unreliable even in terms of patriotism. Sikandar Bokht a prominent leader of Congress, former Union cabinet Minister and a leading BJP stalwart later, even though he was born a Muslim, he married a Hindu lady and his sons have Hindu names.

Here in the United States, converts to Islam represent a variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds, and account for close to one third of this nation's 3 million Muslims. The vast majority, some 900,000 persons, are of African-American heritage, while the number of white and Hispanic converts is estimated at 75,000.
In terms of religion, converts to Islam come from many backgrounds, including Catholicism, Protestantism and Judaism. By more closely examining the experience of Muslim converts, one can better understand the appeal and adaptability of the religion, as well as the future of the Muslim community in the United States.
For African Americans, the appeal of Islam has roots in their own cultural heritage. A number of Muslim slaves were brought to this country prior to the suspension of the foreign slave trade in 1807. Although most were unable to practice Islam, some left behind writings in Arabic which demonstrate that their faith was not forgotten. The Georgia State Library currently has an Arabic manuscript from the late 1850s, written by a Muslim slave from Guinea, Africa, which addresses topics of Islamic law as well as the indignities of slavery.
