Wage war on dowry, ensure women’s rights: Imarat Shariah

Kishanganj (Bihar): "Dowry is society's cancer; this disease has taken lives of thousands of daughters and ruined lakhs of families", said chief Mufti of Imarat Shariah, Junaid Alam Nadvi Qasmi.
Addressing a conference organized by Imarat as part of its social reform campaign in the city on 7th May, Mufti Qasmi said, "This is our vital responsibility to cleanse the society of this dangerous disease and ensure protection of the honour and dignity of women in the society." According to the National Crime Report Bureau (NCRB) 7,618 incidents of dowry deaths were reported in 2006 itself.
Imarat’s Na'ib Mufti Maulana Sayeedur Rahman Qasimi stressed in his speech on rights of women and pointed out the importance Islam gives to the empowerment of women.

Assistant secretary of the organization Mufti Mohammad Sohrab Nadvi asked people to make education their first priority, promote unity among Ummah on the basis of Kalimah (statement of Tauheed), live as a courageous and peace-loving Ummah in all circumstances and protect Milli identity.

Expressing his views, Maulana Anwar Alam, general secretary, Darul Uloom, Bahadur Ganj, appreciated these Da'wah tours and reformative attempts of Imarat Shariah. Established in 1921, Imarat Shariah is a religio-cultural organisation functioning in Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa.
