JMI students get internships at Amnesty, Unicef

New Delhi: For the first time since its inception, students of Jamia Millia Islamia’s (JMI) Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution have begun summer internships this year.
According to a press release from JMI, in total eleven students have got internships with the Central Information Commission (Right to Information Act), BBC (Urdu) Peshawar, Amnesty International, Pratham (NGO), Global Network of Religion for Children, Alliance for Child Rights and Unicef.
Five of them will be learning the RTI Act. Farha Iman is coordinating a children related conference with Alliance for Child Rights while Shubranshu Mishra has been involved with Amnesty International for the last one and half years. Birbal Singh has been accepted as intern by Pratham an NGO.
The internship will be of six-week duration and there will be no grading or inclusion of marks. All students are pursuing an MA in Peace Analysis and Conflict Building, a two-year course. The MA course was launched in 2007. Last date for submission for application forms for 2008 is 23rd June 2008. Students with 50 % aggregate in any graduate course may apply.
