Islamabad : Missiles fired from an unknown location killed 20 suspected militants in a house in the tribal Waziristan region in northwest Pakistan Sunday, according to local news reports.

There was no official confirmation of the attack, but DAWN TV reported three missiles hit the house of tribesman Noorullah in Shahnawaz village and locals said foreigners, suspected Al Qaeda fighters, were staying at the house at the time of the strike.

Pakistani military sources were not immediately available for comment.

Shahnawaz is in south Waziristan, part of the tribal areas that are safe havens for Al Qaeda militants and Taliban fighters who continue to launch cross-border attacks on international forces in Afghanistan.

Pakistan's tribal areas have experienced numerous similar attacks since Taliban and Al Qaeda militants fled into the area after US-led forces toppled the Taliban regime in Afghanistan in late 2001.

Locals in the tribal district have complained in the past that the US-led coalition forces attack the Pakistani side of the mountainous region at least once every two or three weeks.

Meanwhile in north Waziristan, four tribesmen and one militant were killed when militants attacked a meeting Sunday and gun battle followed, according to local media.
