Parliamentary polls in Bangladesh before 2008-end: official
By KUNA
New Delhi : The military-backed caretaker government in Bangladesh has stressed that Parliamentary election would be conducted before 2008-end as per the roadmap declared earlier.
Chief Adviser to the caretaker government Fakhruddin Ahmed has said that the Bangladesh Election Commission was preparing to hold elections within the announced timeframe.
"There is no reason that the polls will not be held on time," United News of Bangladesh reported Thursday quoting Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed.
Ahmed said that the key objective of his government was to hold a free, fair and credible election.
The interim government took charge in January 2007 with the support of military, after emergency was imposed in Bangladesh and Parliamentary election postponed following political violence.
