Ex US President Talks about Meeting with Hamas

Ramallah : Former US President James Carter said on Monday that the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, could accept a peace agreement with Israel negotiated by Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas.
After meeting with Hamas leaders in Damascus, Syria, Carter said that Hamas would also admit the creation of a Palestinian State in the borders prior to the Six Days War in June 1967.
According to the US politician, the Islamic Resistance Movement would accept a peace deal, even without agreeing with all its points, but whenever the Palestinian people accept it through a referendum.
However, the spokesman of the Islamic movement, Sami Abu Zuhri, stressed that Carter's comments do not mean that Hamas will accept the result of the plebiscite.
