Lucknow : Bihar's 'most wanted' criminal Satish Pandey was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh police in Mirzapur district Thursday.
He was nabbed with a revolver and a handful of cartridges, police said.
After the arrest, Pandey tried to conceal his identity to wriggle out of the clutches of the Uttar Pradesh cops.
However, state police chief Vikram Singh, Additional Director General (Law and Order) Brij Lal and STF Inspector General K.L. Meena air-dashed to Mirzapur, about 350 km from here, to interrogate the criminal and to personally take stock of the situation.
"We are quite sure that he is none other than Pandey, who was wanted not only by the Bihar police but also by the CBI," Brij Lal told IANS on his return from Mirzapur Thursday evening.
The state police chief spoke with his Bihar counterpart for getting a team of cops from there to confirm the arrested outlaw's identity.
While he carried a reward of Rs. 200,000 by the Bihar police, the CBI too had announced a reward of Rs.50,000 on his head. The CBI had been on his hunt for his alleged involvement in the murder of a Bihar legislator.
